India bars Uber, Ola, Rapido from tip prompts before ride ends, driver gets full amount

India's Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has directed ride-hailing aggregators to remove tip prompts before a ride is accepted or completed.

The order affects platforms like Uber, Ola, Rapido, and inDrive, requiring them to pass on the full tip amount to drivers without deduction.

Tipping options must now appear only after the ride is done, and no in-app message can imply that paying extra improves the odds of getting a ride or better service.

Aggregators must review their apps and bring them in line with new guidelines without delay.
