Govt paves way for banks to levy charges on UPI payments above ₹2,000

•The government has allowed banks to charge for UPI transactions above ₹2,000 through a new notification.

•RuPay debit cards and UPI transactions up to ₹2,000 are exempt from charges.

•The National Payment Corporation of India will decide on merchant discount rates for UPI transactions.
