Centre steps up push to replace LPG with PNG in households

The Petroleum Ministry has asked states and Union Territories to provide district-level support to shift households from LPG to piped natural gas (PNG).
Nodal officers will coordinate with gas distributors and oil marketing companies to accelerate PNG connections and resolve consumer grievances.
The ministry has directed states to appoint nodal officers from the Department of Food and Civil Supplies to provide administrative support.
The goal is to reduce India's dependence on imported LPG and make the energy system more resilient to disruptions.
