August CPI Inflation: Retail inflation jumps to 4.82%; food inflation nears 6%

Retail inflation in India rose to 4.82% in August, surpassing the 4.17% estimate.

Food inflation accelerated to 5.95% from 5.52% in July, with rural food inflation at 6.13%.

Core CPI inflation rose to 4.2% in August, slightly above the 4.17% estimate.

Housing inflation increased to 2.61% in August, while clothing and footwear inflation rose to 3.56%.
